My first post My first post is going to be about dog shit. Literally. On my way home I got off the bus and was shocked to find a pitbull terrier relieving herself in the middle of a pedestrian walk. Pungent milkchocolate ice cream. She was then showered with loving affection by her owner and owner's boyfriend. I have to say I was tempted to enquire as to whether they'd clean up after their little beast but was restricted by my cowardice. Needless to say this mentality has been brought upon me by the english media highlighting the aggressive nature of the underclass and the common tendencies for pitbulls to attack without warning. On a more serious note, the act witnessed today highlights a mentality that may be shared by a growing proportion of English youths. The rewarding affection parted on to the dog was not specific to it's heinous crime but merely as the owners intrinsic love for the dog. I suppose neither the wellbeing nor discipline of the dog was ever in the picture, but the idea of having a creature that you could look after was the appeal for ownership. Let me rephrase that. The desire to own that dog was not based on affection or companionship of a dog. It was based on self-affection, narcissism, fashion. Given this mentality it's no surprise that dogs are lashing out and attacking children. Nor is it a surprise that antisocial behaviour is on an increase. Having a baby for any other aim than to raise a family is simply an abuse of life. Kids deserve the responsibility of their parents to receive adequate attention and to make sure cultural codes are respected. If you don't know what 'adequate attention' is, get off your lazy ass and find out. Otherwise your kid will be shitting all over town. (1 Comment |Comment on this)
